Allowing the visually impaired community to participate in water sports
The Remote Coxswain is an affordable tool that allows those with sight disabilities to participate in recreational and competitive rowing. Our innovative remote-controlled rudder ensures that the boat goes in the right direction, while our custom-fitted paddles let the rower know that they are gripping properly. This hardware can be retrofitted onto any racing shell, or other man-powered watercraft.
The rudder is controlled via remote by an operator up to 500 feet away. A small box on top of the boat promises to be non-intrusive, but protects the internal components from water damage.
The blind rower will receive custom paddles with markers to insure that his or her hands are in the correct location, so the paddles hit the water the right way, every time.
